100 things we no longer have

  • April, 2011:
    • Guest room clutter (See the post).
    • A borrowed crib passed on to some one else (this was lent to us so it doesn't really count).
    • Two boxes of baby clothes sent to my nephews.
  • May, 2011:
    • Spring give-away day:
      • 7 bowls and vases that I made myself.
      • 1 Snoopy mug.
      • 4 vases that I received bearing flowers from my husband.
      • 8 candle-holders.
      • 2 spherical candles
      • 4 miscellaneous dishes. (I've already forgotten what these were!)
      • 6 CD's.
      • 1 book. (The Happiest Toddler on the Block. He's happier now.)
      • 1 cheese serving set.
      • 1 brie baker.
      • 1 garlic roaster.
      • 1 coffee grinder.
      • 3 straw baskets.
      • 1 Hubble-like figurine.
      • 1 painting, painted for me by an ex-boyfriend, in the early 1990's. Bye.
    • A scrap book of Polaroids and mementoes. This feels good.
    • A box of baby toys sent to my nephews. Happiest clutter bust! Totally win-win.
  • June, 2011:
    • Toiletries we weren't using.
    • A great big down parka my parents got for me when I moved to this cold city. It was so big for me that it didn't keep me warm. My father-in-law was happy to have it.
    • A potty-training seat insert that shifted precariously.
    • 7 pairs of underwear that had seen better days.
    • A handful of plastic food-storage containers, worn and orphaned.
    • 5 food-storage containers returned to my mother-in-law (ongoing, and that's okay).
    • Expired food (ongoing, but hopefully diminishing).
    • 5 stuffed animals.
    • Scuffed black patent pumps.
    • 5 shirt boxes.
    • Mini-donut pail (on second thought, no, I don't want to store J's golf balls in that clutter).
    • The amazing hot-pink Laura Ashley tank I've worn every summer since high school. That was in the 1980's. So soft. So strong. So way too short.
    • Lots of faded, yellowed, and otherwise unwearable clothes.
    • More inedible food, this time from the freezer.
    • Toys that J didn't particularly enjoy, and a few books that scared him, which I took to the consignment store.
    • 14 pieces/pairs of clothing, consigned June 29, 2011.
  • July, 2011:
    • A dozen books.
    • A few decks of cards and a Trivial Pursuit game.
    • About a dozen old coats, mine and my husband's.
    • A laundry hamper full of my husband's old clothes.
    • Excess travel mugs and other dishes.
  • August, 2011:
    • Two replica trucks that my husband got for our son. They looked great, but they weren't tough enough for a toddler. Broken trucks are frustrating trucks, so I put them out for garbage pick up.
    • A bag of old pots in really bad condition, culled from our camping gear.
    • Two old pillows, old magazines, and I-don't-know-what-else that filled two garbage bags and a box.
    • Lots and lots of things that sold in our garage sale. Pictures and CD's and books, oh my! Vases and tote bags and a Zipfly as well.
  • September, 2011:
    • ...
  • October, 2011:
    • From above the stairs. A stocking full of cat toys (Riley passed away in December).  Expired groceries: 36 granola bars; a lot of microwave popcorn (this stuff expires?); unopened multivitamins; an unopened jar of salsa that expired in 2006(!). A lot of plastic grocery bags, recycled at the store.
Yes, I stopped maintaining this post!
